Just bought this boxset today and I am so excited to get it.  For whatever deep-seeded reason, I seem to be on a perpetual search for the perfect Christmas music.  I have no idea why.  I have all but abandoned traditional religion and really don't pine away for that kind of structure.  But, to me, there is just something peaceful about some Christmas music.  In the most pure sense, a true believer's Christmas song can be truly be one of the most beautiful things in the world... just as anything by a true believer of any religion or cause or belief or any thought can be.  That, to me, is what makes remarkable art: a stronger belief in something than can be explained.  I guess that's the definition of faith... a  strong belief in something that cannot be proven.

Anyway, the music contained in this boxset is so incredibly beautiful, so incredibly reverent, and so incredibly passionate that I don't even waste brain (or emotion) cycles on determining Sufjan's beliefs.  All I know is that this music connects with me.  He connects with me.  Not necessarily in definition, but seriously in passion.

Luckily, all of this makes sense to me.  Which, as much as I love anyone reading this post, is all that really matters.
